David Harrison opens “Works on Paper” exhibit

This month’s exhibit at the Crowsnest Pass Public Art Gallery is a series of offerings by art educator, contemporary painter and conceptual artist David Harrison. Harrison’s solo exhibition, titled Works on Paper: A Retrospective, features conceptual investigations into deconstruction, disintegration and decay as part of a postmodern philosophy that has radically changed his approach to image making.

Harrison has recently been working with “alien material and deteriorating urban graffiti,” which he reprocesses into a second look at what is often viewed as vandalism. Working with newly harvested materials, he reorganizes and prepares them into complex geometric matrices, redefining abstraction and engaging the viewer.

The exhibit opened on Saturday, Nov. 8, with an open reception and artist talk, and runs until Dec. 7. Be sure to drop by and explore Harrison’s unique creations.
