Crowsnest Pass Public Art Gallery show opens
On Saturday, Jan. 31, Crowsnest Allied Arts kicked off its latest offering to the public entitled “No Particular Topic.” This annual show is a blend of artistic styles from local and area artists, and this year’s show has a lovely mixture of styles and subjects. The show will run until March 1. Be sure to drop by. The gallery is open seven days a week and is a great place for gifting or indulging in local art.
Jane Barkwith from the North Cowley area had several pieces in the show including one entitled,” Cernnunos, Lord of the Dark”. Cernunnos is an ancient Celtic honoured god. The medium is kiln fired vitreous enamel over copper sheet. It will transfix you. John Kinnear photo
Karen MacDonald poses by another of her mixed media creations entitled “Onward,” which she describes as spontaneous abandon with movement, colour and a bit of whimsy. John Kinnear photo
Linda Barbork, from Hillspring, also had two pieces, one of which is entitled “Athabasca Falls,” an acrylic on canvas. Linda says of the beautiful falls that she tried to capture as much of the natural beauty in the various textures, shapes and colours she saw. John Kinnear photo
Connie Blomgren’s piece entitled “Oriental Poppies” is a lovely depiction done with watercolour and charcoal. John Kinnear photo
